The deep cleaning of Hever Castle is well under way and for the last 3 days we've been in Henry's room. All was going well we'd cleaned all the furniture, brushed down the panelling, cleaned the pictures, given the Ivory room a hoover and decobwebbed it. Found the biggest spider, I told Jan (scared stiff of them) to leave but she wanted to know how big. When she saw it she released a scream that could've been heard in Edenbridge. I took some photos of the beautiful tapestries that line the walls of the Ivory Room but my phone is playing up and won't let me download them.
Anyway the reason why yesterday was different is because David Starkey was recording in the castle for his new tv series about his book Henry: Virtuous Prince. We watched some of the taping but we had to reassemble Henry's room as they usually use that room and the Queens chamber. I had to walk right past him so I could return a chair to it's rightful position, twice! He's put on a bit of weight and seemed a bit grumpy. Oh well.

Hehe, I love David Starkey's programmes, but he's always come across as quite grumpy to me...

At least you got to 'meet' him though, that's pretty amazing.

Yeah it was. I just wish we'd been prewarned then I could've brought in my Henry book for a signature!
Unfortunately it took me a while to realise why he was there as no one told us. So when I realised that he'd wrote that book on Henry and we'd stripped to the panelling the very room they'd want to film in, a *headdesk* moment! Luckily we got it back to normal with 5 minutes to spare :-)

I'm not even a hundred percent they used that room despite our mad rush!!!

How exciting!!!! I've just finished 'Virtuous Prince' and thought it a very interesting, easy read. Have you read it yet? Will look out for the TV programme!

Unfortunately it's still in the 'to read' pile! Have got to finish Mary Tudor by Linda Porter yet. Am half way through but I keep getting distracted by Terry Pratchett.
I had a sneak peek at his filming schedule and he had quite a bit to go, Dover Castle and Ightham Mote. Hopefully there'll be a memo with the date, channel and time as usual. Will keep eyes and ears open.
